The battle for control of sports betting in California is heating up. In the past few days, a number of organizations have issued statements of support or opposition to the various initiatives being proposed in the Golden State.

A legislative effort to bring regulated sports wagering to Kansas hit an unexpected roadblock Tuesday. That’s when a lottery-related amendment failed on two occasions.

Last year, BetMGM took a small amount of wagers on New Jersey college basketball teams. But the state prohibits bets on games involving local universities, leading to a fine for the gaming operator.

What is surprising is that substantial wagers continue to roll in on the two, despite little chance of either teeing it up April 7-10 at August National.

New York’s top gaming lawmakers are teaming up for a proposal that would greatly overhaul how mobile sports betting operates in the state. Not only do they want to expand the number of operators, but they also want to reduce taxes, allow write-offs, and include more minority representation in the industry.
